Awesome, Amazing Rat Tricks

A short video showcasing a handful of incredible rat tricks performed by my five talented rats:

Suki (Brown Agouti Berkshire Dumbo Rat)
Famous (Pink-Eyed Himalayan Top-Eared Rat)
Raven (Black Variegated Berkshire Dumbo Rat)
Shadow (Black Mismarked Irish Top-Eared Rat)
Paris (Russian Blue Berkshire Dumbo Rat)

My rats are taught with positive reinforcement and clicker training.

Most of the tricks in this video are performed by Suki, Famous, Raven, and Shadow, since Paris had undergone surgery during the time this video was filmed (you can read about her surgery in an earlier post).  She will be back in action again soon.

I hope you all enjoy. :)

  1. I loved watching the video of your five talented rats! They are all so adorable and eager to perform. It's amazing that you have taught them all so many tricks. It certainly seems like it would take lots of time and dedication. ;) Thank you for sharing your videos; they have helped a lot with animal training! Keep up the awesome work! :)

  2. Paris, Raven, Famous, Suki, and Shadow are amazing! I already knew how smart rats can be (also as shown in your "Nana's Birthday Party" video), but even I was surprised at some of the tricks your rats could perform! You're an amazing trainer. I am looking forward to more rat trick videos in the future! Keep Training Paw-sitive with your "Ratties"! :)

  3. All of your rats have mastered such amazing tricks! Their "Come When Called" behavior is very impressive - it's amazing how well they can perform it. :)
This video has made me realize just how smart rats can be. It shows the world that even rats can be trained with Positive Reinforcement and Clicker Training! :)
I'm relived to hear that Paris' surgery has gone well. I hope that she will be ready to perform more tricks soon after she's fully recovered. :)

You're an amazing animal trainer. I'm sure you could train any type of animal! You're my inspiration.

I would like to ask you something... I'm a dwarf rabbit breeder and maybe in next months one of my girls will be mom, so I'll keep a girl and I loved to call her Nana but I need to know If you matter about that. Can I call Nana to my future new girl?

    Please answer. :c

  6. Your rats are amazing! There is just one question that I'd like to ask you:
I have a pair of guinea pigs that know some tricks. They are enjoyable to train, but their tricks usually require luring. I read in a comment that your rats learn a lot on their own. Can you give me some advice on how to make their tricks more stable? Thank you! :)

  7. Hi! How old are your rats? They look quite young and I wanted to know what age you started training them. Their tricks are amazing. I saw your "Epic Rat Tricks" video as well. :)

    1. In this video (Awesome, Amazing Rat Tricks) they are six months old, and in their latest video (Epic Rat Tricks), and currently, they are ten months old. I have been teaching them since I brought them home as babies.
